Ternoon thank you a greatly appreciate you coming in on a summer afternoon I think your timing is exceptional because I heard it's miserably hot outside and most people do not want to be outside at this time of the day so good thinking the nine o'clock group in this beautiful weather, and you're in here with the most impressive time of the day for those of you I think I remember meeting many of you throughout the course of the school year but in case you've forgotten I'm Jen Byers the assistant superintendent here in Led yard I have the pleasure of working on a daily basis with the Linda learning and Ken Campo who are like kind of the substitute Queens in the district and I again greatly appreciate you coming in for the training I think almost all of you I think all of you are returning substitutes for the district this year, and so we will go through a presentation that in some ways may look familiar to you some of the same information we shared last year but what I did do in preparing this is get feedback from the administrators who of course get feedback from their teachers as to what they wanted me to kind of highlight or emphasize this year, so there will be some topics that I spend a little more time on than others as we go through the slides because that is kind of the information that the administrators principals felt was most important to make sure that we were all pretty clear on when it came to those expectations our presentation today is kind of divided into two parts, so I have the expectations piece and then I have the ESOP piece if you are a returning sub familiar with ASAP know how to use it nothing about it has changed so your login and your PIN and everything is the same then we're just going to skip that part at the end and we don't need to go through that if there's anybody new or somebody who never actually even got into the ESOP process last year and months to stay for the training you're certainly welcome to, and I'm more than happy to go through that, but I don't want to keep you any longer than you have to be here, so we can skip most of that as we're having our conversation around expectations today what I tried to do is sort of divide it into four categories that make the most sense to me as I think about what the response abilities are for substitutes and so the four things that we will talk about is instructional accountability a positive classroom environment student safety and then just kind of the professional expectations that we have in terms of policy and school expectations um, so we'll dive right into instructional accountability and the first bullet is kind of the first and primary role of a substitute teacher and that is to please follow the lesson plans that are provided any classroom teacher will tell you that they would rather come in with a broken leg and their arm in a sling running a fever of 102 then should put the time and the effort that goes into preparing a perfect set of lesson plans it's hard...
